Giant Claw apesaur by unlobogris Giant Claw apesaur by unlobogris
A creature from Skull Island done for the contest by CurlyHairedKaiju.

Giant Claw apesaur (Megacheironyx atrox):
Size: 10 m long, 5 m tall
Group: Neotherizinosauridae
Diet: basically, the huge insects of Skull Island, but also, plants and sometimes carcasses.
Habitat: Plains and forest.

The Giant Claw apesaur has developed a long tongue, similar to woodpecker's tongue, which is used to pick bugs. It has also a extremely powerful claws which are very useful to defense, attack and to break termite mounds; it use their claws to make a curious ritual which resembles the flapping of a wings, the objective of this behaviour is to intimidate the oponents and the predators.
It walks over it's knuckles, just like Kong, in order to protect the claws. This creatures live alone or in small groups with no more than 3 members (and this groups are always a mom with their babies). Males develop a little crest of black feathers over the eyes during the mating time and they fight with other males; it's common that the result of this combats is the death of one of the males, but the winner still need to "dance" for the female in a lek.
This animal has no many predators in the Island, neither the V-rexes or Kong would like to fight against those huge claws.

I love therizenosaurids and always wanted to see one looking like this. I just love that idea of them knuckle-walking for some odd reason. It just seems something a therizenosaurid would to me. Very nice drawing and description.

Is it a critter for the speculative dinosaurs project? Well imagined, and well drawn, go on!

No, is not for the spec dino project, it's for the CurlyHairedKaiju contest about Skull Island critters.
Anyway, it's spec of a dino which could live today. ^^
Thanks!

Thank you! yeah, it is a direct descent of Therizinosauridae. I'm not proud at all of the description, my English is getting worst since I finished the High School (and English Lessons), only hope you can understand the main idea ^^ (my explainations are terrible)
